through Trenholm Road United Methodist Church

You, brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to endulge in the flesh; rather, instead, serve one another humbly in love.
— Galatians 5:13

Service Opportunities

God wants to use us to change lives and change the world. Whether it’s here in our church, in our neighborhood and the surrounding community, or around the globe, there are many ways for you to volunteer and serve with Trenholm Road UMC.

Our Safe Sanctuary Policy has been updated and was approved, effective May 2019.  All individuals working with children, youth, and/or vulnerable adults at or through TRUMC must complete the Safe Sanctuary Training.

Reminder: Safe Sanctuary Training is not complete until the results of both background checks are received by the Business Office and we have your signed/initialed copy of the Safe Sanctuary Policy.

Follow these steps to become Safe Sanctuary Trained:

1. On the main “Welcome to Safe Sanctuary Training” page, click the “Enroll Now” button.  If you do not already have an account, you will need to create one.

2. Enroll in the class. Your enrollment will need to be approved by the staff before you can view the course – this may take up to 24 hours.

3. Upon receiving email notification that your enrollment is complete, you can begin the course.  Work through each of the lectures and quizzes within the training course.

4. Complete and bring the THREE documents to the church or complete the THREE forms at the Business Office or your Staff Contact Person.  We need the original signed copies and will not be able to accept electronic versions.

5. Wait to hear from your Staff Contact Person that we received results from the background checks - the Business Office keeps the results confidential and simply gives the ministry staff a "yes" or "no."

6. Start serving the children, youth, and/or vulnerable adults of/at TRUMC.  You can return to the Safe Sanctuary Training online at any time.

Missionaries witness and serve in dramatically different locations and cultures and engage in a range of professions and activities. They are a tangible connection between the church and mission.  TRUMC offers several opportunities to make a difference in the world.

Serving Our Community

The Columbia and the Midlands give many opportunities to help our neighbors.  TRUMC serves through a number of ministries, making a real difference for people in our community.
