Children's Ministries

Children are such a blessing, and at Trenholm Road UMC we are blessed to have a large and thriving Children's Ministry. We have a variety of programs for all ages, making it easy for children of all ages to find their place at our church.

We carefully and prayerfully hire staff to provide a warm and caring environment where your children will experience the love of Christ through human hands.  A series of references and background checks are performed on every person we hire, and most of our staff are certified in infant CPR by the American Red Cross.

Your child will have an opportunity to play with other children their own age, learn about God through an age-appropriate craft or activity, munch on a yummy snack of cheerios and water, and if the weather is nice, play outside on our playground!

Sundays from 8:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Wednesdays from 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
All nursery rooms are located on the bottom floor of the Main Building.

Little Church

Little Church is a place created with our youngest worshipers in mind. It provides an atmosphere and tone where children can begin to learn the meaning, importance, and format for worship.

Worship is the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for God. Because this can be a challenging concept for young children to understand, we encourage children ages 4 to 5 years-old to join us in Little Church each Sunday morning during the 11:00am service (except for the first Sunday of every month when we serve Communion).

Following the Children’s Time in “Big Church” children are invited to exit the Sanctuary and move to the Children’s Chapel where they will be invited to engage in a Godly Play story (to serve as a sermon), a musical response (to serve as a final hymn), and a final prayer (to serve as a benediction).

Sundays at 9:45 a.m.

In the Children’s Sunday School, we use a curriculum that aligns with the Revised Common Lectionary text in an effort to remain consistent with the season of the Church as well as the TRUMC worship schedule. This provides children with the reinforcement of the lessons, readings, and sermons on any given day so that the children can grow in their understanding of the scriptures.

Children and Youth Basketball - Christian Youth Basketball League

The purpose of our TRUMC children and youth basketball teams is to promote Christianity through good fellowship and clean, wholesome sports activities.  Be sure to check our church announcement for any information about participation.

Discipleship Junior

Discipleship Junior is an opportunity for children (4K - 5th grade) to dig deeper into bible study.  Through crafts, stories, and games, children study scriptures and learn how to become better disciples of Christ. Discipleship Junior meetgs Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm during the school year (September - May).
